THE BASICS

My name is Kristy. I’m twenty-one years old. I was born in Metairie, Louisiana, which is about five to ten minutes from New Orleans. But I was only born there, I was actually raised in LaPlace, a little city about ten minutes west of Metairie. I have a little sister Katie who’s six years younger than me. I have two cats at my parent’s house, Sasha, a mutt, and Misty, a traditional Siamese. I go to school in Monroe, Louisiana, about four hours from home, where I’m currently in Nursing school at the University of Louisiana at Monroe where I plan to get my BSN so I can be a pediatric RN. I have an amazing fiance named Dustin, and we adopted a little kitten together named Callie, a brown tabby, who we love and adore as if she were our own offspring. I love reading and writing when I have the time, but school can get pretty demanding at times. I've made a bunch of great friends up here in Nursing school, but my absolute best friend is back home. Krystal & I actually became friends in seventh grade because of our shared love for Hanson, and we've been friends ever since! I'll be graduating [hopefully!] next Spring, and I can't wait!

HANSON FANDOM

I became a Hanson fan in June of 1997. I distinctly remember my friend Jennifer telling me she had seen this new band on MTV, and she showed me a clipping of them in Seventeen. I was intruiged, and became pretty much obsessed with Mmmbop after hearing it for the first time. For my birthday, which is also in June, she bought me the single on cassette, which included snippets of Thinking of You, and I Will Come To You. After listening to that for about a day, I decided I HAD to hear the rest of those songs, so I bought the CD, and since that day, I've been a fan. I spent all of seventh-grade obsessing over them, and actually made two of my best friends through our mutual love for this band. I hated that I liked them because I was heavily into rock and alternative music at that time, but they were just so damn magnetic...an obsession had begun, and my room was wallpapered in Hanson pinups and posters. I died down a little during the break between This Time Around, I'll admit, but I still listened to the music even though I didn't spend hours online looking at websites about them. Then Underneath Acoustic was released, and they started appearing on TV shows constantly, and the 12-year-old fangirl in me was released along with it. I've been hardcore into Hanson ever since, and I don't think any break of any length will have me back to the point of not talking about them daily or checking communities on LiveJournal about them. I plan to be a Hanson fan for a very long time coming. ;-)

FANFICTION
I began writing fanfiction around Halloween of 1997, very soon after Hanson burst onto the scene. I was in seventh grade, and I had just recently discovered this little world known as hanfic. I started out just reading it. Okay, reading it a little obsessively. I couldn’t get enough. So one day, I decided I wanted to give it a shot, so I dug out an empty notebook and started writing. And I haven’t stopped since. I’ve written to completion thirteen chapter fictions and six short stories, plus plenty of projects that started and were never finished. And I always have more ideas coming to me, so I doubt I'm anywhere near done.

CHOOSING NAMES
Names have always been an important part of a story to me. I won’t even think of starting any writing until I have a name picked out for my main character. It’s usually something weird or unique that few have ever heard of, but I don’t generally just make them up. I’ve usually spotted it somewhere or actually met or heard of someone with that name. Take for example the name Zorianna, which I love and plan to name my first daughter. I found that name while flipping through a Seventeen magazine. It was the name of an author who did a small article on Julia Stiles. I saw it and fell in love. I’m a big fan of the uncommon name, so you’ll ultimately see those in all of my works.

COLLABORATING WITH HEATHER
Writing with Heather, I can honestly say, has been one of the best things to ever happen to me in all the time I've been writing fanfiction. We worked so well together, that Fallen Down Angels came together naturally, and almost wrote itself. It amazed me how in tune we were as far as ideas and trading off the writing of the story, because I never thought that anyone else would ever get it the way that she did. We would be trading ideas on AIM and literally say the same thing at the same time so often that I had to tell her to stop walking around in my brain! It was one of the easiest and quickest projects to ever come out of my mind onto a computer file, and I couldn't be more proud of the work we've done together. I don't think our collaboration days are done quite yet!

MUSIC
Music plays an important part in my fiction as well. I think it plays a part in every person’s life who reads or writes hanfic. If not for our love of their music, why would we ever choose to write about these same three boys or read the tales that people create about them? Why not write about something – anything – else? So music becomes incorporated into almost everything I do, whether it’s within the story itself or little snippets of songs appearing as chapter titles or subtitles. It’s also been a huge inspiration. Many a story has come about through listening to a song and being hit with ideas. Music will always be a constant source of inspiration.
